What Size Are Metal Business Cards? Dimensions, Thickness & Weight Explained

Before you order a metal business card, you probably want to know exactly what you're getting — how big, how thick, how heavy. Here's everything you need to know about metal business card dimensions, thickness, and weight.

Standard Metal Business Card Size

Our metal business cards are made to the standard business card size used across the US and most of the world:

  • 3.5" x 2" (88.9mm x 50.8mm)

This is the same footprint as a standard paper or plastic business card, which means metal cards fit in standard cardholders, wallets, and card slots without any modification. They look and function exactly like a regular business card — just dramatically more impressive.

Thickness

Metal business cards are thicker than paper cards but thinner than most people expect:

  • Typical thickness: 0.3mm – 0.5mm (depending on the product)

For reference, a standard paper business card is about 0.3mm — so our metal cards are in a similar range but with dramatically more rigidity and weight. They don't bend, crease, or fold.

Weight

This is where metal cards really stand out. A single metal business card weighs approximately:

  • 5–8 grams per card (vs. ~1 gram for a paper card)

That weight is immediately noticeable when someone picks up your card. It's one of the first things people comment on — the heft communicates quality before they've even read a word.

Will Metal Cards Fit in a Standard Wallet?

Yes. At 3.5" x 2" and 0.3–0.5mm thick, metal cards fit in standard card slots in wallets and cardholders. Most people carry them alongside their credit cards without any issue. The slight additional weight is noticeable but not burdensome.

Will Metal Cards Fit in a Standard Card Holder or Case?

Yes — any cardholder designed for standard business cards will work. Metal cards stack cleanly and don't warp or bend in storage.

Do Metal Cards Set Off Metal Detectors?

Occasionally, yes — particularly at airport security. The aluminum content is minimal, but some sensitive detectors may flag a stack of cards. Individual cards in a wallet rarely cause issues. Worth knowing if you travel frequently.

How Do Metal Cards Compare to Paper and Plastic?
